Blencathra Loop

Another cloudy day yesterday in the Lakes. We parked at the Blencathra Centre and followed the grassy path up Blease Fell. I used my poles to the fullest to take a bit of pressure off my ankle, plus it’s great practice for the TDS.

The weather was improving and after about 30 mins of climbing it was actually warm and the cloud was lifting.

Like yesterday my ankle had loosened up by this point and I felt good enough to start running along the ridge.

We follwed the ridge along to the summit and headed down Scales Fell with lovely views of Scales Tarn and Sharp Edge along the way.

From here we dropped down to the base of the fell and picked up the path heading back toward Threlkeld. It was interesting to pass by Hall’s Fell ridge, we’d aimed to come down here on Lakes in a Day but missed and ended up scrambling down a pretty rough gully, won’t make that mistake again!

Another great day on the fells.
