Bothering Martins

Local one today. Ed was out racing in Keswick so had time to kill. Kept it short and sweet along the Cumbria Way footpath. Still waiting on new shoes to arrive, my current Speedcross are really tired and like my last pair have developed a hole in the side.

It was such a pleasant morning, I couldn’t help but stop and sit by the river for a bit, much to the annoyance of the Sand Martins. Great views across to Carrock Fell

I was thinking about my lack of quality training and how the upcoming Snowdon Race is going to be challenging for me, am I up to it? I was talking shop with Ed and we got onto chat about next door and how messy our garden is, I joked about the rusty trampoline in our neighbours front garden, a pathetic little testament to our unavoidable drift into inertia.  It’s too easy to just settle into an easy routine, I haven’t really pushed myself for a while.

The vis insita, or innate force of matter, is a power of resisting by which every body, as much as in it lies, endeavours to preserve its present state, whether it be of rest or of moving uniformly forward in a straight line.
