Woke up on Sunday after a wonderfully restful night. It was bright and cold, perfect running weather. We set off around 10am and jogged back up to Bassenthwaite Village, stopping to watch the ducks at the bridge.
We picked up the path through the woods where it meets up with the road near Orthwaite
From there we followed the road round to Longlands where we crossed back onto the fells. Whilst it was freezing, the clear sky want at summit views were not to be missed, and so we gained a little extra vert with a detour over Longlands Fell. The views lived up to expectations.
We made our way down, back to the track and jogged back to Caldbeck. The cafe was open and it was a much needed pit stop. They had a little log burner on the go and after I’d eaten my cake, it was a bit of a wrench to leave and face the final 8miles.
Still we made it back, beating the sun, just. A great little adventure time.
